MARCH EQUINOX 2026

Hi, it's me again.

Today is the March Equinox: First day of Spring for the Northern Hemisphere, and Fall for the Southern.

The stock market is down and no one's pretending the world isn't on fire. The news breaks our hearts everyday, so as much as I practice presence and awareness, I'm just here to bring you closer to yourself. I truly hope you and your loved ones are well.

Whether (weather—get it?) it’s Spring or Fall where you are, I offer you one question: who are you becoming?

Equinox comes from the Latin aequinoctium, meaning “equal night" and today there will be equal hours of day and night, but once balance is met, change is inevitable. Spring and Fall are the Earth's transitional seasons, they prepare us for change, for what is coming. Changing from cold to hot or hot to cold. So we could say, these seasons allow Earth to buffer as she transitions. She's taking her time to warm up or cool down. So who are you taking your time to become? Where are you coming from and where are you going to?

In last season's newsletter, I wrote "let’s settle into Winter with stillness like we’re not afraid of boredom." That's where I'm coming from, being unafraid of boredom. There's a power I feel growing in me, one that tells me I can do nothing and still be valuable, because being afraid of boredom is really rooted in self-valuation aka self-worth. So this Spring I'm changing from being the girl who runs from boredom to the girl who welcomes it with the same confidence she welcomes being booked & busy.

I hope you practiced stillness in your Winter or honed energy in your Summer, but now, it's time to become. Welcome it.

WORK

I've been in the house, writing my ass off! I work best with deadlines, so I've given myself 'til April to finish the first draft of my next screenplay, and October to finish the first draft of my next poetry book. I also just landed a role in a film, scheduled to be filming in April!

Quick reminder: my poetry and photography books are limited print so grab what's left in my online shop or at one of my handpicked bookstores across Los Angeles and San Diego (bookstore list on shop page). Signed copies of SEPARATEBUTEQUAL are still available online.

GRATITUDE

I was invited by the BLK OPS Foundation to be part of a panel discussion on serving in Special Operations Forces, as part of the Black History Month edition of their MIC Unplugged series. Watch the recap here.

CONSUMPTION

I finished reading AFRICAN SAMURAI now I'm planning a trip to Japan so I can visit all the places Yasuke went. A few days ago I devoured THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO - intended to take my time with it but I couldn't stop reading. Now I'm reading SECOND PLACE by Rachel Cusk, I'm obsessed with her writing. Chance The Rapper's STAR LINE is still on repeat, adding Halsey's MANIC to the rotation, it's an oldie but goodie and it's fitting the vibe of my next book - wink wink
