ABOUT THE EVENT
This Juneteenth, join artist Assia Lau’ren at The Pop-Hop for a special showcase of her photography collection SEPARATEBUTEQUAL — a visual exploration of the racialized histories embedded in public spaces from Richmond, VA to Paris, France. Featuring select photo displays, a reading from the book, and an open artist talk, this event is an invitation to reflect, engage, and honor the ongoing fight for justice and remembrance.
Through striking visuals and historical reflection, Assia’s work explores the haunting legacy of racial segregation and colonial exploitation—juxtaposing images from Monument Avenue in Richmond, VA, and the Jardin d’AgronomieTropicale in Paris. This Juneteenth, we commemorate the path to Black liberation by honoring truth-telling through art, memory, and storytelling. Come for the conversation, stay for the community.
There will be a $5 entry fee for this event, with signed books available for purchase on-site. Space is limited, so RSVPs are strongly encouraged to ensure…
